For Darkness Shows The Stars Giveaway (CLOSED)

For Darkness Shows the Stars
For Darkness Shows the Stars by Diana Peterfreund
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It's been several generations since a genetic experiment gone wrong caused the Reduction, decimating humanity and giving rise to a Luddite nobility who outlawed most technology.

Elliot North has always known her place in this world. Four years ago Elliot refused to run away with her childhood sweetheart, the servant Kai, choosing duty to her family's estate over love. Since then the world has changed: a new class of Post-Reductionists is jumpstarting the wheel of progress, and Elliot's estate is foundering, forcing her to rent land to the mysterious Cloud Fleet, a group of shipbuilders that includes renowned explorer Captain Malakai Wentforth--an almost unrecognizable Kai. And while Elliot wonders if this could be their second chance, Kai seems determined to show Elliot exactly what she gave up when she let him go.

But Elliot soon discovers her old friend carries a secret--one that could change their society . . . or bring it to its knees. And again, she's faced with a choice: cling to what she's been raised to believe, or cast her lot with the only boy she's ever loved, even if she's lost him forever.

Inspired by Jane Austen's "Persuasion", "For Darkness Shows the Stars" is a breathtaking romance about opening your mind to the future and your heart to the one person you know can break it.

Currently Reading & Just Finished: Would-Be Witch, This Is Not A Test

If you'd like to share what you're reading and just finished, Tell me in the comments or link up a post in the form below.

CURRENTLY READING:

Synopsis: The promising debut of a hot new voice in paranormal romance-and the first of the Southern Witch novels.

The family magic seems to have skipped over Tammy Jo Trask. All she gets are a few untimely visits from long-dead, smart-mouthed family ghost Edie. But when her locket-an heirloom that happens to hold Edie's soul-is stolen in the midst of a town-wide crime spree, it's time for Tammy to find her inner witch.

After a few experiences with her dysfunctional magic, Tammy turns to the only person in small-town Duval, Texas, who can help: the very rich and highly magical Bryn Lyons. He might have all the answers-and a 007 savoir faire to boot-but the locket isn't the only heirloom passed down in Tammy's family. She also inherited a warning:
stay away from Lyons.

Darkness Before Dawn Giveaway (CLOSED)

Darkness Before Dawn (Darkness Before Dawn, #1)
Darkness Before Dawn by J. A. London
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This electrifying new trilogy blends the best of paranormal and dystopian storytelling in a world where the war is over. And the vampires won. Humans huddle in their walled cities, supplying blood in exchange for safety. But not even that is guaranteed. Dawn has lost her entire family and now reluctantly serves as the delegate to Lord Valentine, the most powerful vampire for miles. It isn’t until she meets Victor, Valentine’s son, that she realizes not all vampires are monsters.... Darkness Before Dawn is a fresh new story with captivating characters, unexpected plot twists, a fascinating setting, and a compelling voice. Written under the name J. A. London by a talented mother-son team, the trilogy is perfect for fans of True Blood and the House of Night and Morganville Vampires series.

Currently Reading & Just Finished

I'd like this to be a meme of sorts or, at the very least, a reoccurring post on my blog. You can always see what I'm reading by looking in my sidebar on the right (just below my book buttons) or by following me on goodreads. I update my status on both as often as I can. Just to forewarn you, I am an inconsistent reader. Sometimes I read fast, sometimes slow, and sometimes hardly at all. So these posts will be sporadic.
If you'd like to share what you're reading and just finished, I've included a linky below for you to submit your own post.

CURRENTLY READING:

Synopsis: It’s the end of the world. Six students have taken cover in Cortege High but shelter is little comfort when the dead outside won’t stop pounding on the doors. One bite is all it takes to kill a person and bring them back as a monstrous version of their former self.

To Sloane Price, that doesn’t sound so bad. Six months ago, her world collapsed and since then, she’s failed to find a reason to keep going. Now seems like the perfect time to give up. As Sloane eagerly waits for the barricades to fall, she’s forced to witness the apocalypse through the eyes of five people who actually want to live.

But as the days crawl by, the motivations for survival change in startling ways and soon the group’s fate is determined less and less by what’s happening outside and more and more by the unpredictable and violent bids for life—and death—inside.

When everything is gone, what do you hold on to?

Paperback, 320 pages
Expected publication: June 19th 2012 by St. Martin's Griffin
ISBN: 0312656742 (ISBN13: 9780312656744)
I'm excited about this. I love a good zombie book (Which is so hard to find!) and it'll be a nice contrast to the book that I just finished. My only concern is this sentence in the summary "But as the days crawl by, the motivations for survival change in startling ways and soon the group’s fate is determined less
