3,000 Words for 3 Books, Every Day

So, I'm a writer. You know that.

The hardest part about being a writer.....is the writing part. I know, ironic. Or maybe that's not true, editing sucks pretty bad too. Ok, those two are pretty close, but I'm here to talk about writing.

     Coming up with ideas is easy. Just take a look at my 'My Books' page; I've got ideas coming out the wazoo. Even when I tell myself that I wont be coming up with any more book ideas, BAM! a new one hits me and it's just too tantalizing to walk away from.
      Heck, it's not even the writing part that's hard. It's the sitting down and starting to write part that's hard. If you look at the top of this blog,
you'll see under my name "Expert Procrastinator". I'm not being cute there. I'm being honest.
There are a million things that always need to be done. I need to go to work, I need to make a video, I need to catch up on some reading, I need to workout, I need to reply to emails, I need to...and so on.
Now there are a million reasons why I've taken so long to write Exaulta and some day I'll go into more detail about that. But for now, my problem is procrastination. I allow myself to be distracted by way too many things (even this blog post) and it's slowing me down.
   So, going along with my New Year's resolution to start making changes in my life, I've decided to start writing a set amount every single day. I'm also being spurred on by the awesome Trisha Wolfe who said, "Girl, just get that work done and send it! There's nothing to it, just keep the books coming, that's the big thing."
That's exactly what I intend to do. To help me keep in line with that, and to let you follow along, I've updated my progress bars, which you'll see on the right. You'll see that I have three works in progress. The top being the most important. The third title is currently untitled and doesn't have a page yet. I'll let you know when it does. I've put The Vengeance of Verona on hold till after Exaulta is done, since it's entirely dependent on that book anyway.
My goal is as the title states-- 3,000 words for 3 books, every day. That shouldn't be too bad. I hope. You can see that two of the bars are at zero, but I will update them often and hopefully tomorrow-- at the latest.
I encourage you all to follow my progress and feel free to kick me in the butt if the bars don't move for a few days. Sometimes, that's just what I need.

Goodbye Spoiler Room

Hello Bookworms, I hope this finds you having a wonderful Christmas.

I just wanted to take a moment to let you all know that I've decided to remove the Spoiler Room from my reviews. This is something that I have thought about doing on many occasions in the past. While I like the opportunity the Spoiler Room provides for us to discuss the book, I don't feel that it is providing as much value to my viewers as I had hoped. I also worry that the long video times are preventing new viewers from watching the review. I know, as a youtuber, that I often check the video time before I hit play-- if it's too long, I'll probably move on. On the other hand, I'm pretty quick to watch videos that run under a few minutes.

So, in the hopes of shortening my video length, increasing my viewership, and in addition decreasing my workload, I will be removing the Spoiler Room. I tested this option on my last review, Under The Never Sky, and watched for any reactions. No one, not a one,
mentioned the missing spoiler section. The video passed my previous review, Shatter Me, by about 10 views and seven comments. This could be related to the change in format or just a fluke. It's impossible to say.

However, since my views and comments didn't decrease and no one complained, I can only assume that this is the right choice for me. I'm not going to say that I'll never use the Spoiler Room. I might if the mood or book stirs me to do so, but it will no longer be a regular feature in my reviews.

I just wanted to give everyone that little update. Please feel free to comment with your thoughts on the matter. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season.

The Hobbit Movie Trailer

Ok, everyone has seen the trailer by now right? I mean, it's been trending world wide on Twitter, so of course you've seen it. No?! Well, damn, quit reading this and watch it! Read my comments below the video when you're done.

Ok, come on. How awesome was that?! The singing gave me chills.
That dwarf has a really great voice; it just rumbles. I think that scene really made the whole trailer for me.

I did notice some computer graphics, which I wasn't thrilled with. I mean, of course there is CGI. But we're not suppose to notice it. In the original three, I don't recall too many moments where my eyes were drawn directly to something that immediately registered as CG. It was only a few subtle things in the trailer that caught my eye (and no I wasn't looking for flaws) and screamed fake. Hopefully, when I see the actual movie, I'll be too caught up in the story's awesomeness to see the CG. I have full faith that this movie will live up to the expectations created by the first three. No worries here.
Oh and I'd like to note that some of those dwarves were unexpectedly attractive. Which is just a little bonus. I think this movie is going to have a lot of unexpected, pleasant moments.

In case you didn't know, The Hobbit is being split into two films. Which explains the sub title. I'm actually really glad that it's being split into two. I just can't get enough of this epic fantasy. I've even watched some of the fan made movies. Yes they were bad, but oh so worth it.

I hope you guys liked the trailer. Now I'm off to go watch it again. I can't wait for the movie!!!!

My Unboxings are back! I edited 3 yesterday and filmed 5 more last night. It was a lot of fun and I'm surprised at how much I missed doing them.

It appears that the version of Delirium that I have is now "the old cover", as they have redone it. The new cover is actually very nice, but unfortunately this means that my covers wont match when I buy the sequel :-/ I wish these companies would decide on a cover before they publish, but perhaps that's just too logical. Giveaway Behind The Scenes!

So the winners video for my 100 Subscriber Giveaway has been posted and is now up for all to see. Before I filmed that however, I did a vlog about all that was going on behind the scenes. I split that into two parts.

Part one is very short (less than 3 min)
and in it I basically explain how I figured out who the winners were going to be.

Part two is closer to 6 minutes, but in it I tell you how the giveaway almost never was. Just as I finished choosing the winners something terrible happened and it almost meant the end of all of this. Considering all turned out well, I hope you get a laugh out of it.

They're always going to be hot ;-) So me, CubicleBlindess, and Pebbles730 decided to design a BookTuber shirt for all of us to wear. It's just for fun. It's not a requirement, if you want to be a BookTuber. We didn't even make it to be available to the public, but it turned out so well that we thought why not!

The shirt is a classic-cut standard weight men's t-shirt, 100% cotton. So basically it's a one-style-fits-all. The sizes go up to 2x. The front is a play on the YouTube logo, reading BookTuber and the back reads, "Read it.

I will be doing a video about this very soon to further explain all of the changes. However for the time being I wanted to let everyone know that my blogger URL has changed. It was thebookvlogger.blogspot.com and is now lindsaymead.blogspot.com.

Mostly, this doesn't affect you. The content streaming through this site will still be the same that it's always been. Unfortunately, this does affect how certain links work. For example, this blog may no longer
show up in your dashboard when I post something new. If that's the case you may want to try unfollowing and refollowing. I can't guarantee this will work, but it has worked for me a few times when blogs I follow have changed their URLs. If you have this blog bookmarked (favorited, saved) in your browser, you may want to redo that as well. What I find most disappointing is that my blog buttons no longer work. The codes have been updated, so they work now, but if you already have my button on your site it will try to link to the old URL which no longer exists. The only way to correct this problem is to: A.) simple change 'thebookvlogger' to 'lindsaymead' in the code or B.) recopy and paste the code into your widget.

I'm sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. I wish there was a way to make this change without messing up links and such, but it is what it is. I greatly appreciate all of the support you all have given me and I hope that you'll stick around for more. Until next time, Happy Reading!

I think that I'm going to do some more driving vlogs in the future. I really enjoyed making this one. If you guys don't like it, make sure you let me know! In this video, I talk about all of the little things that have been going on. The vibrating starts off loud in the beginning, but once I leave my driveway it seems to really quiet down.

Also, I've started a poll that you will see in the top right of this blog. I'm shifting the focus on some of my sites to reflect more "me, the author"-- as appose to just "me, the youtuber". Unfortunately, when I went to change my Twitter from 'TheBookVlogger' to 'LindsayMead', which is the name I want, it said that someone's already taken it. Boo. Good News & Not So Good News

I guess we should start with the not so good news. I'm behind on my book review. It should have been posted yesterday, but I had to work so I didn't get a chance to do that. The book is read, the review is written, but I have to film it. The major reason I am behind is because my critique partner and I kicked butt on my book revisions this week, and admittedly I got tunnel vision lol. If I hadn't had to work yesterday, I likely would have gotten the video posted late last night. As it was, I planned on doing some filming this
morning. Unfortunately, (and here's the not so good news) I've awoke to construction. The construction is only temporary, but it is in my studio. Even now, as I type this, the pounding is vibrating through my walls. So, how can I film my book review or even my update video? Not a huge deal. I'll certainly have things posted by Monday or Tuesday-- if not Sunday night.

Now for the good news. I have the last episode of True Blood on my computer as we speak! As you know my access to the show has been stalled, but I managed to find a link to the forums of that site and I can now get to that show again. I haven't decided fully if I am going to review this episode. I clearly don't have time to do a full review before the next episode airs. Plus, there is the construction to consider. If the construction ends soon or if I can throw together a mini review from my room, I might get that posted for you tomorrow.

So that basically is the update that I wanted to give you guys. Thanks for your patience and understanding. Before I get to work, I want to say quickly that my heart goes out to the east coasters. Specifically Jen on Long Island, you're in my prayers. Whether your sitting in the sunshine or huddled behind boarded windows, as always, Happy Reading.

Ok Bookworms, I think the title says it all. Me, along with several viewers, have decided that it would be a good idea to move my book reviews from Monday to Friday. This decision was made mostly because I was struggling to get back on time. The internet went down and when you get behind on one video, it puts you behind on all of your videos. PLUS, I'm trying to post True Blood reviews at the same time. So, if I post my TB reviews on Tuesday
(or around that day) and push my book reviews till Friday, I should be able to get back on a steady schedule. This doesn't have to be a permanent change. Hey my lil bookworms! I just wanted to give you guys a heads up. My review this week is going to be late, unfortunately. This is due to a few things. 1.) The internet being down really threw off my schedule. I went from being ahead of the game to falling behind. 2.) After reading the disappointment that was last week's book, I was determined to enjoy
reading this week. So I picked an adult zombie novel and at first it was great. Adult books are written so differently than teen books and the change was nice....at first. About 1/3 in I started to miss the progression of teen books. YA books tend to stay focused on the moment, while many adult books spend a great deal of time on inner dialogue a character's past memories. This can be killer for someone like me who loves action. If the character is dangling from a cliff, I don't care if she misses Christmas with her grandparents-- why are you wasting paragraphs telling me this now!? As soon as I realized that I wasn't enjoying the book, I had to find a new one. Remember I was determined to give a happy review this week? So, I went with a sure thing-- Divergent. I was right, I'm enjoying the book! Except, I grossly underestimated the length of this book and overestimated my ability to read quickly. I've been reading nonstop and I could have the review posted late today, but (and this brings us to #3) I have to work today. It's a long shift too. So, the review will be up this week, just know that it will be a few days late.

Onto True Blood. I don't have a specific date set aside to post True Blood, so I can't say that it will be late. It likely wont be posted until after my book review. Normally I film my TB review the morning after it airs, but icefilms.info didn't have it uploaded until very late last night. So I'll have to wait until tonight to watch it.

So, that's all I wanted to say. I apologize for any inconvenience that I may of caused you all. I imagine that as things go back to normal here, so will my reviews. *Fingers crossed* Oh, before I forget-- Happy Reading!

          This video is posted on my personal channel (LindsayLou04), where I don't post as much but I'm a little more relaxed and silly.

Ok, so there seems to be some trouble with people seeing the phallic shape in the armor, which probably just means I have a far more dirty
mind than most of you. So, I'm going to point it out further. To the top left you'll see the solder's left (our right) shoulder. In that armor you'll see the phallic shape that reminds me distinctly of the artwork once used in ancient Pompeii to direct people to the brothel-- but that's another matter. Still don't see it?

Here is the same picture with the image highlighted. Come on, that has to make you think of the same thing. At least you have to see it too lol. No? Ok, try this then.
There is no way that you don't see it now. If you don't, then either I'm too far gone for saving or you're too sheltered to be watching my videos. Glad you are though ;D

True Blood S4 Episode 1 Review and Discussion

Hello Bookworms! I had promised you that I would review the first True Blood Episode and I'll post that video below. I think you all will like it. I had a lot of fun doing it. I've made a few changes. First is that I added color to the sides of the video. I think it really fills out the screen and helps the whole thing to really pop. The other change is that I used mostly video clips instead of stills. This was only really possible, because the clips are so readily available. Not like with a book review, where video clips are rarely ever made. I will
also be changing the intro, but that wont happen until I have the time to film and edit it.

Speaking of time. Since I plan to review each episode of True Blood this season, I'm thinking about putting a halt on my Unboxings. At this point I am uploading three videos a week. That's a lot of work for me, little time on my book, and a bit of an overload for you guys. So I think since the Unboxings were more a side thing, I might stop those until this season is over. If you have any thoughts or suggestions, let me know.

       Hey Bookworms! It's time for my second video book review to be posted. Technically I made this before my Enclave review, so you will notice some changes. Some are subtle, so maybe you wont :)
      I woke up this morning to this tweet from Ramona Wray, the author of Hex, "Linds!!! I just saw the video review on amazon :D It's *so* amazing! Thank you!" From this I learned a few things. One: don't upload your reviews to Amazon the night before you post them on YouTube, they post faster then you think. Two: Ramona actually sought it out, watched it, and loved it!        Hello Bookworms! Guess what? My YouTube channel has officially launched! I know, it's about time. It was pretty iffy there for awhile, I won't lie. The editing of my first review ran up until the morning of the launch. Then to make things worse, It took almost two hours to process and upload the video. Imagine me carrying my laptop opened, as I walk to the car, and YouTube saying that my video will be finished uploading in a few seconds. The video processed in
my passenger's seat and then I had to slip in the annotations during my work breaks. So the video went up late and stressed the heck right out of me lol. Hopefully this is not a sign of how my book vlogger experience will be.
        There are some kinks that still need to be worked out, so don't be surprised if you see changes to my videos and my formatting. Then again, that is the nature of YouTube-- it's always changing.
         As of now, I plan to post a review every Monday. This week is Enclave and next week is Hex, A Witch and Angel Tale by Ramona Wray. The following week is likely going to be Switched by Amanda Hocking. What about Unboxings? Don't worry, I will still be posting those every Wednesday.
