CURRENTLY READING:

Synopsis: The promising debut of a hot new voice in paranormal romance-and the first of the Southern Witch novels.

The family magic seems to have skipped over Tammy Jo Trask. All she gets are a few untimely visits from long-dead, smart-mouthed family ghost Edie. But when her locket-an heirloom that happens to hold Edie's soul-is stolen in the midst of a town-wide crime spree, it's time for Tammy to find her inner witch.

After a few experiences with her dysfunctional magic, Tammy turns to the only person in small-town Duval, Texas, who can help: the very rich and highly magical Bryn Lyons. He might have all the answers-and a 007 savoir faire to boot-but the locket isn't the only heirloom passed down in Tammy's family. She also inherited a warning:
stay away from Lyons.

JUST FINISHED:

Synopsis: It’s the end of the world. Six students have taken cover in Cortege High but shelter is little comfort when the dead outside won’t stop pounding on the doors. One bite is all it takes to kill a person and bring them back as a monstrous version of their former self.

To Sloane Price, that doesn’t sound so bad. Six months ago, her world collapsed and since then, she’s failed to find a reason to keep going. Now seems like the perfect time to give up. As Sloane eagerly waits for the barricades to fall, she’s forced to witness the apocalypse through the eyes of five people who actually want to live.

But as the days crawl by, the motivations for survival change in startling ways and soon the group’s fate is determined less and less by what’s happening outside and more and more by the unpredictable and violent bids for life—and death—inside.

When everything is gone, what do you hold on to?

It should be titled This is Not a Zombie Book. Yes, I'm being a smart ass. It happens. I'm gunna have to mark this one as a DNF. Something I hate to do, but not more than I hate forcing myself to finish a boring book. If you like good zombie books, don't read this one. If you like contemporary fiction and you want to "try out" the zombie stuff, this is for you. The main thing that should be noted is that zombies are a very small part of this book.  Watch for my full review here: http://www.youtube.com/user/TheBookVl...

  1. Oh, yay!! You figured out the box thing and putting the cover inside and outside!

I don't know I love the cover of Would-Be Witch but it looks sweet. I'm such a cover-whore.

  2. I did figure it out! I gave you the link to how to do it in the comment thread that you and I were discussing it on. It's really easy.

I love the cover for the third book in this series. The colors were constantly drawing my eyes right to it when I was at work. That's what made me buy them all. The book is definitely lighthearted so far, but it's fun. It makes me feel good about life. Some times I just need a break from the epic, heavy books. Something that will just brighten my day and this book is doing that. However, I'm only 18% in. This story could do just about anything at this point. Thanks for commenting!

  3. So I thought I would do this cause it sounds fun. I just finished Scarlet by AC Gaughen and I loved it. I really enjoy retellings and this a great version of Robin Hood, so I highly recommend it to anyone that likes fairy tale retellings. The book I am starting is Legend by Marie Lu. I have heard a lot of good things about this book and I really enjoy dystopian novels so I am really excited to read this one!!!!

  5. Sorry it's taken me so long to respond! It's been a long emotional and school packed last two weeks! That's how it is for me with the Avalon: Web of Magic series. The cover art is breathtaking, I just couldn't stop looking at them!
I hope the book continues to entertain :).

  7. Aw, I didn't get an e-mail this time about your reply.

I have such a love/hate relationship with those books. I ALWAYS choose them over sleep but the next day I regret it haha.

  8. Yeah I should have just read till I got to a part that wasn't so exciting. Although that is really hard to do with these books.
